In December 2005, a petition against equal marriage rights in Massachusetts came under fire when widespread allegations of signature fraud began to surface. Mass Equality called on Sage Systems to create an informative mail piece that alerted the signers of this petition of the possibility of signature fraud. The mail piece directed recipients to a website, designed and maintained by Sage, that let them know how to take action against this petition fraud.
